Beet benefits. Uses and medicinal properties of beetroot, leaves, beet juice.
The main beet benefits is remineralizing and vitamin tonic. It has a proven hepatoprotective effect of intoxication probably because of the concentration of betaine which is a
methyl group donor involved in the transmethylation hepatic metabolic processes.
Properties attributed to the beet leaves are vulnerary, antiparasitic, digestive, laxative, antifungal and contraceptive.
To the fresh beets juice are attributed: antitumor, pectoral, diuretic, emmenagogue insecticide. Tubers: antifungal, antibacterial and anti-mitotic. Also hypolipidaemic and
vasoprotective.
The beetroot is indicated to: hepatitis, cirrhosis, gallbladder disease, prevention of arteriosclerosis. Anemia, asthenia, convalescence. Capillary fragility.
Beetroot is contraindicated in cases of oxalic lithiasis due to its oxalic acid content, in hyperestrogen and hypothyroidism.
- Use as food.
- Fresh beet juice: 100 ml one or more times daily.
It is also available as a granular powder. For the first 14 days, take 10 gm of the drug after meals.
For prolonged treatment, the dose is 5 gm a day for at least 3 months.
