Therapeutic properties of essential oils. Effects and recommendations.
There are various pharmaceutical formulations in the form of liniments in which are used the terpenoid compounds such as menthol and camphor mixed with other essential oils such as mint and rosemary.
Its main effects are associated with irritation of the skin and mucous membranes, as rubefacients, digestive, bactericides, tranquilizers, anti-platelet, anti-cancer, lipid lowering, and others.
Its properties as skin irritants are widely used for antirheumatic applications.
Not recommended big doses of essential oils orally and must be administered with caution in pregnant women and children.
